Sommeliers “Seduced” at Rías Baixas Albariño Saints and Sinners Party
Albariño Lovers Celebrate Valentine’s Day Early at Red Hot Event

Wine industry professionals braved the snow and sleet on Tuesday, February 12th for a night of “Saints and Sinners” sponsored by Rías Baixas Albariño wines. The hot white wine from Spain invited sommeliers and wine media to “kick cupid to the curb” and party with their peers after-hours at M1-5 bar and lounge in Tribeca.
Revelers indulged their inner sinners with R?as Baixas Albariño wines and cocktails while reviving their inner saints with relaxing chair massages and Korean delicacies from New York City’s Momofuku, all in preparation for hectic Valentine’s Day restaurant celebrations. Guests were especially thrilled with the array of R?as Baixas Albariño wines and flavorful pairings with the Bo Ssäm (a type of Korean pork burrito). Albariño’s refreshing acidity deliciously complemented the Bo Ssäm’s richness and kimchee tang. R?as Baixas Albariño wines are exceptional with spicy foods, seafood, or on their own, as the restaurateurs realized. A sommelier from Manhattan’s Le Cirque restaurant commented that she often recommends R?as Baixas Albariño with many of their seafood dishes, further illustrating this Spanish white’s versatility.

Formed in 1988, the Rías Baixas DO is the leading Denomination of Origin in the Galician region of northwestern Spain. The DO was formally established in 1988 and owes much of its acclaim to the white Albariño grape, elevated by many in Spain to cult status, a trend that is now spreading to US shores.
